CWG Gold Medalist Wrestler to Skip Asian Games 2010

Who doesn’t know by now Sushil Kumar, the gold medalist wrestler from India in XIX Commonwealth Games 2010 concluded here in Delhi yesterday with a grand closing ceremony.

The closing ceremony’s closing held on 14th October had a unique theme- it was – we are all a family in the world.

All players who came as their country groups in the opening ceremony came to the stage of closing ceremony all together with no bifurcations of countries.

Sushi Kuamr got a gold medal in Men’s Wrestling 66 Kg category. Just after the conclusion of the games, Sushil Kumar declared in a press conference that he would not be participating in the next month’s Asian Games to be held in China.

This is because of a shoulder injury that he developed during his wrestling matches in Commonwealth Games. Sushil Kumar confirmed his unavailability for the Asian Games 2010 because he does not want his shoulder’s condition to worsen further.

Instead he would prefer to get appropriate medical attention and get it fit before participating in any forthcoming competitions.

Sushil Kumar also has some neck pain and he feels that psychologically he needs some rest before any major event.

After World Championship he straightaway started his practice and preparations for Commonwealth Games. So for a next bigger aim ofOlympics to be held in 2012 in London, he wants a break and get fully fit thereby sacrificing Asian Games.

Sushil Kumar is Asian Games, Commonwealth Games and World Championship winner.

Indian Wrestler Pradeep Kumar will be replacing Sushil Kumar for the Asian Games to be held in Guangzhou city in China starting from 12th November till 27th November.
