Another Gold for India. Vijay Kumar and Harpreet win the 25m center fire pistol men's paris event, notching the tally up to 21

13:46: Paddy Barnes clobbered his way to a 5-3 win. He kept his shots mixed, never predictable and sustained his energy all through.

13:35: Barnes scores too. The pugilists seem well-matched in this contest. Ireland scores again, with a neat uppercut.

13:33: Australia's Andrew Moloney vs Northern Ireland's Paddy Barnes in the light flyweight category. Australia scores a point. On the attack now.

13:29: No it's not. Martyn Lewis wins that round.

13:26: An excellent return from the Mambwe, who made a comeback from 5-14 to 14-17. But will it be enough to beat Lewis?

Apologies, Wales is playing Zambia, not Jamaica.

The best badminton action we've seen in months, was without dount the women's singles event, which Saina Nehwal took home in style. But not before Wong the Malaysian made her labour for it.

13:19: And Wales' Lewis takes the first game. He's lasting longer in rallies, and takes the lead in the second game. It's now 8-4 in Wales' favour.

13:12: Wales plays Jamaica in the badminton men's singles. Neck and neck in the first game

13:10: Look who else was inspired to try their feet on the new CWG track - AP reports - A golden-haired dog ran onto the track and into the infield Saturday at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, drawing cheers from the crowd before eventually being chased out through a tunnel.

Bowls, Bolwing on the Green, Bocce, or Lawn Bowls as we know it in the Commonwealth Games 2010, has been around for over a thousand years, it is said. The object of the game is to get one's ball closest to the target, a white ball called the 'jack'. Part of the challenge is the use of a 'lopsided' ball, designed to curve as it slows down. The current Lawn Bowls champion is Tiger Woods. That should be proof enough for the game's stature.

12:58: Lawn Bowls in progress. Not impressive at first sight, but a little patience reveals that the game invovled calculation and precision akin to golf. New Zealand is playing Northern Ireland in the women's doubles. They're running even right now.

12:49: How about some netball now? Malawi women leading 61-50 against Trinidad and Tobago in the last quarter. And Malawi wins the preliminaries against T&T.

Just heard a sound byte from Vijay and Harpreet, Gold medallists in the men's center fire pistol. A confident Vijay says the focus is on the fourth shooting event on Sunday. Harpreet admitted that there was some serious pressure as competitors narrowed the margin half way through. "It's tough shooting in front of the home crowd," he said.

12:38: India's Sandeep and Narender leading in the third game now, match ball now. And India wins, through to the next round. The Ugandans showed grit and solid technique initially, and the Indians' unforced errors helped, but good recovery in the final game, with some brilliant drop shots put India in the lead.

12:32: And India wins the second game, now even with Uganda.

12:28: India struggling against the Ugandans in the squash court. After losing the first round, India is trying to increase the 6-4 lead with Uganda.

12:20: And England's Nicky Hunt has won the women's individual compound Archery gold medal

12:08: And Australia emerged victorious in that Hockey match with Pakistan. Looks like it was tough all through. Only one goal was scored.

The track was alien territory fo Indian sportsmen, but Kavita Raut broke the jinx with her 10,000m bronze yesterdya. The Maharashtrian was overcome. Here's her story. Not to forget, Harminder SIngh followed it up with a bronze in the 20km men's walk.

12:00: Looks like they're saving all the action for the evening, folks. It's a lot of qualifiers and heats in the first half today.

11:50: And Resmi Bose moves to the finals in the women's long jump event. She jumped 6.06 metres. Bose curently holds fourth place. Maliakkal steps on the red line, it's a foul. Unlikely that she'll progress to the next round.

11:47: Great news for India, Vijay Kumar and Harpreet win Gold in the 25 m center fire pistol men's paris event, notching our tally up to 21.

11:43: Indians just miss qualification in both sets of men's 400m hurdles. Both were in strong contention during the first half of the race, egged on by the crowd, but lost steam after the half-way mark.

11:41: Track and field, qualifiers on for the women's long jump. Jamaican Beaumont qualifies. Maliakkal of India up next.

Some cricketing news now. PTI reports: Australian skipper Ricky Ponting won the toss and decided to bat against India in the final Test of the two-match series at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. India have made three changes in the line-up, bringing in Cheteshwar Pujara, Murali Vijay and S Sreesanth. Laxman has been rested.

But India does expect medals from Narsing Yadav in the 74kg wrestling event and Yogeshwar Dutt in the 60kg category. Both are through to the finals.

With Jo Jackson's 20km walk medal, England has taken second place behind Australia. With a total of 77 medals compared to India's 49, they certainly deserve it. Here's a medal tally -

Australia - 48 Gold, 26 Silver, 101 total

England - 20 Gold, 37 Silver, 77 total

India - 20 Gold, 16 Silver, 49 total

Suma Shirur and Kavitha Yadav have picked up brinze for the women's pair air rifle event. Post the event, the shooters said health problems plagued their performance today.

11:14: Disqualified. Abdul jumps the gun, is sent out of the sprint. Disappointment for Indian fans. But the commentators claim it could be a tactical move, that coaches could have asked Abdul to exit the race to save his energy for the relay event. Jamaican Rasheed comes first.

11:12: Abdul Najeed Khureshi has qualified for the 200m sprint. All eyes on lane 6. It's the first round, athletes will look to save their energy.

10:58: Shah Imran makes a brilliant scramble against an Australian attempt. The Aussies get a corner now.

10:54: Ahmad Waseem makes a valiant effort at the Australian goal. But he couldn't divert the ball and the teams stand 0-0.

10:50: A scuffle in the D, Pakistan fouls Australia, a penalty awarded. Will they score? But Pakistan appeals, and the penalty is changed to a free hit. The game is back on, Australia pushing ahead.

10:48: Hockey - Australia Vs Pakistan. A little over 17 minutes left in the second half. Strong teams on both sides. Australia on the attack, a long pass, but Pakistan regains possession.

10:40: England is through to the women's hockey semi-finals. They beat Malaysia 3-0.

10:38: Abhishek wins the last game 11-7. India wins bronze in the men's team table tennis event. India wins in straight matches. A 3-0 victory.

10:31: Abhishek takes the game. Faced with a slow spin that took an age to reach him, a frustrated Ajetunmobi smashed the ball to the net, giving the game to Abhishek. Now the crucial third game of the third match in progress. This game will decide the bronze medal.

10:28: Abhishek employs a slightly laborious style, favouring spin and trusting his long shots over fast rallies. It seems to be working, though. He'd got a 9-5 lead in the third game.

10:20: Ajetunmobi proves a tough competitor. Abhishek having to work his paddle hard for points. His game seems to have stabilised in this second game, though. A loose chop, followed by a heavy spin, which the Nigerian couldn't judge, and the second game is Abhishek's, for 11-6.

10:15: Back to some TT action now, the Nigerian took the first game of the third match for bronze, and the second game is just under way.

Indian women registered a tremendous win against Trinidad and Tobago yesterday, a 7-0 crusher. Despite that, India's Hockey chances are bleak. Here'swhy.

10:08: On the Hockey pitch, England have just beated New Zealand 5-3 in the Pool B men's event.

10:03: Amalraj wins the second round comfortably, attacks in the third, the decider. Amalraj wins the decider, takes India's match tally to 2-0 against Nigeria. Abhishek takes on Ajetunmobi now.

09:35: And the jury rubbishes the protest, Sscotland's Etko wins the 60kg men's wrestling qualifier.

09:28: A close match between Pakistan and Scotland on the mat. The fight is beyond qualifier level, and both wrestlers have won a round each. Oh, and the Pakistani side have registered a protest. A dangerous move. If found unwarranted, Scotland would be awarded a point.

09:18: Wrestling qualifiers in progress. India's Anil Maan and Leon Rattigan of England well matched on the mat. England a point ahead. India are through in the 60kg men's category, though, beating Australia. Anil Maan makes an early exit.

09:02: Scotland's Miley finishes first, Australia's Evans comes in second and England's Willmot takes third place. Miley used an unconventional breaststroke to surge ahead in the second half. Payne and Miley finish on top of the list, Evans right behind them.

08:56: The 4x100m women's medley heats is in progress, the last 50m now, and England's Anne Payne wins by a mile. Aussie Samantha Hamill comes second and Canadian Alexa Komarnycky takes third place.

As we head to the pool for the heats, here's how the Australians guzzled glory on Day 5. But Leisel among women and Huegill from the men's team stood a good head taller.

But not to worry, there are still some wrestling Golds to be won, which the Indian grapplers are eyeying greedily. Day 5 was profitable to wrestlers, thewomen really did us proud.

England looking like a strong contender for the number two spot on the Gold tally today. A host of swimming and track and field events, and the English will try to upset the Aussie winngin streak in the pool. 'Lethal' Leisel will probably get out of the pool unscathed, I'll wager.

Oh, an important bit of news I missed in the 20k men's walk. India's Harminder Singh speed-walked to grab an impressive bronze in the event. He walked a personal best of 1:23:27

England had already edged up the Gold medal tally to almost level with India's, and Australia is in a league all its own. for those of you who missed it, here'syesterday's action
